I want to convert my bike to a single speed?
(question 1) what is the process and steps? I have a vintage peugeot road bike 10 speed (i'm a female), I have been riding it for the past year. I want to change the brakes and convert it to a single speed. right now it has weinmann brakes which i think might be original, and the derailer is sachs-huret. What does this involve?(question2) will i have to get a new wheel set(question3)? what are good moderately priced brands for brakes and whatever else I may need(question4)? how much can you estimate this might cost me(question5)? if you need more info let me know, and please no pretentious jerks leaving comments not questions. (question 6) how do i determine the right gear ratio for a my single speed, will the bike mechanic work this out with me?

Your bike probably has no horizontal dropouts, this will be a problem.
