I am traveling for the first time to Nigeria, can I bring a mosquito net with me?
I am 27 but still my parents are pretty freaked that I am traveling to this country. They were reading on the government of Canada website that it is illegal to import mosquito netting and even water. That is when my parents call and tell me that I could get arrested for bring a bottle of water with me on the plane. When it says I can't IMPORT does that mean I can't bring even one listed item into the country with me?
Absolutely, you can take a mosquito net as it is just like a blanket, it is for personal use so you are not importing it. It is highly recommended. You can even pack your suitcase full of bottle/seal tight water, they have no issues with that.
Other recommendations are mosquito repelent sprays, taking some preventive malaria medication that should be available from the Canadian medical.
As long as it is for personal use, you are absolutely fine.
