Track Light 13

Joining track for the first time.. What shoes do I get ?

OKay, so yeah I've decided to join track this year after seeing how good I did in football.. And I'm still a little unsure about some things.

First, I'm 13 years old, 5"8, 200Ib- yes, I am fairly big, but I can run short distances(100M) really good. (even winning a race against somebody same age and height but 60 pounds lighter lol)

However, I cannot run even a mile without slowing down about halfway. =[

Now, my question is what shoes do I get? I'll most likely be running the 100meter and I don't know if I should get the fancy spike shoes or just some flat shoes. Also, could football cleats work? (for running on grass)

I'll also most likely be a thrower.

Any suggestions or help would be great. ty in advance

For sprints you will most likely a pair of spikes, they really do improve your time which is obviously a plus. However they are not completely necessary even if it is a good idea- it's up to you?
Spikes are only usually only for meets though, so since you want to be a sprinter I would recommend a pair of light running shoes: less comfortable but helps more with speed.
The addition of wanting to be a thrower does make things difficult. These are two totally different kinds of spikes, so you either need a pair for sprints and a pair for throwing or talk to your coach about what kind of shoes could be used for both (sorry I'm not quite sure what kind of shoes could do this)

ALL running shoes or spikes are made for a specific kind of running so make sure you know what you want.
recommended purchases?
-sprint spikes
-light running shoes
-artillery spikes

hope this helped!
