What does 1 1/8" headset mean? Will this headset work on my bike?
My bike has threaded forks. The manufacturer's spec on my bike says it has a 1 1/8 headset. I bought a 1 1/8 headset on ebay. I was under the impression that 1 1/8 headset meant that the diameter of the hole in the head was 1 1/8th inch (28.6mm) Now when I look at the specs on the 1 1/8 headset I bought the spec on the part that will actually be pressed into the head says 30.0mm. Wouldn't that mean the headset is 1 1/4?
Will this headset work on my bike or did I buy a part I can't use?
the new headset and my forks are both threaded. My stem is 1"(25.4)
so if a 1 1/8 inch headset fits over a steerer tube of the same size, I guess the inside of the steer tube must be 1 inch, and that's why it will accept the 1 inch stem. and I guess that would make sense if the inside diameter of the head where the cups get pressed in are 30.0mm. So I guess I can use this headset.

there are threaded and threadless versions, hope you got the right one!
