best suggestions on fixing and speeding up vista?
my daughter has a refurbished vista computer that didn't come with with the disk to reformat. she has an administrator account and 5 limited accounts, 2 of them are used by a 9 year old boy and a 13 year old girl.
she is using firefox and has avg free and malwarebytes and it is set up to defrag automatically.
any suggestions what to do to speed it up and to remove any virus/malware that may have slipped in?
Just keep your anti-virus software updated at all times. Do a weekly complete scan of your drives. Delete/uninstall any unnecessary files and software (there are lots of those). Monitor your internet activity such as browsing and downloading files. Make sure you get them from trusted sites! Avoid P2P sharing programs as much as possible.
If it would help, try installing the Web of Trust add-on for Mozilla Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16720/). Basically, it tells you which sites are safe and trusted, and which ones aren't, as reviewed by thousands of other WoT users all over the globe.
