Racial Tension Relief: What do you think of my idea for it?
I think that people, as individuals, should relax their responses to other individuals who make blatant, group based racism blanket statements and instead, focus on how each individual reacts and treats, individually, each other individual they encounter. In short, and much simpler, base your determination of an individuals racism characteristics on each individual in an individual setting.
For example, if I am watching TV and some ni gg er thug in Detroit is caught on film stealing a hub cap, and I call said NI GG ER, a "N I GG ER," BUT, I am in 7/11 earlier and I held the door open for an elderly black lady, then DON'T CALL ME A RACIST.
Likewise applies to black guy's in the same situation.
You haven't been very clear, but I think you're right on your point - that generalisation is the worst problem when it comes to racism. It's the group mentality (from the point of view of the racists), and it's the "they are aliens" mentality (generalising the targeted population). I think one should criticise or condone or elevate individuals rather than populations. If this is honestly done, a race, if inferior or flawed in some way, would realise it.
