what would be a good gear ratio for a bmx bike with a 23 teeth front sprocket?
The popular rear sprocket used with a 23T front sprocket (20" wheels) is an 8 tooth rear sprocket. 9T might work OK, if your riding is only short distance and you don't need a lot of speed for thetype of riding that you do.
This means that you are looking at a cassette hub on the rear - freewheels don't go generally that small... they only go down to about 13T
