Honestly, I wouldn't spend any money for upgrades on that bike. It's not a bad bike, but it's on the lower end of the scale, and you could use that $250 to put toward a nicer bike in the future if you want to. Financially, you'd come out way ahead doing it that way because aftermarket parts cost a LOT more at retail prices than what they do when included on a new bike.
If you really want to spend some cash, though, I'd consider buying a new fork and/or tires. A nice fork will really make the bike feel different and you might even save some weight over the one you have now. You can get a Manitou Black for less than $200 online and it's a good fork. Don't get a fork with more than 100mm of travel, though....your bike needs to stay in the 75mm-100mm range.
