Bicycle Front 34

Can I replace my 5 speed screw on casette?

Ok so i've been restoring an old 1960's tandem bicycle and I want to change the cassette. I have restored it but when I took it for a test ride up a hill the gearing was just way to hard. I can only have a maximum of a 5 speed cassette and I cant have a front derailleur so the only option is to modify the cassette. The cassette I have can be completely disassembled. what i want to do is replace the first gear with a new 32 or 34 tooth cog. basically I want to have a 5 speed mega-range cassette. Im pretty sure you can only get 6 speed mega-range cassette, is there a place where I can purchase just the one gear?

If it screws on - it's not a cassette - it's a freewheel. See link below & check with your local bike shop.

All the 5 speed freewheels I'm finding go up to a 28 tooth 1st gear - max. You may want to see if the 6 speed freewheel on 2nd link will work. 14-34
